Who are we?

Rising Phoenix Center for Law & Politics is nonpartisan, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization formed in 2016 to promote Diversity and Democracy through high-caliber programs in law and politics for teens.

Founder and CEO, Adeline Ortiz, is a passionate and proactive participant in all of our programs.

In 2018 and 2019, Rising Phoenix partnered with the Thurgood Marshall Junior Mock Trial program, to provide hundreds of middle school students with a positive introduction to the law.  Our high school debate program lead to Bronx students competing at ivy league schools.

Rising Phoenix hosted two teen conferences in 2018, where over 500 teenage boys and girls spent the day interacting with attorneys, legislators, judges, and business professionals.

Our "Kentucky Derby" themed 2018 Annual Gala, held at the Empire Casino @ Yonkers Raceway, was an exciting finish to a great year!  City of Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano offered praise for our work and emphasized the need for civics education in our schools.  Also in recognition of our accomplishments, New York State Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins issued a Proclamation,

designating November 10, 2018 Rising Phoenix Center for Law & Politics Day!!

In addition to a sponsorship gift, Century 21 Stores donated "His and Hers" fragrance baskets, each loaded with over $500 in designer fragrances, which our guests were thrilled to win at the gala!

Rising Phoenix thanks all of its sponsors, supporters and friends, and we look forward to an exciting 2019!
